Hall of Jupiter – The Virgin Mary with Jesus

The painting of "The Virgin Mary with Jesus accepting St. John Sarkander through the intercession of St. Anna," was designed for the main altar of the All Holy Martyrs' Chapel in Olomouc. The Viennese Baroque painter Josef František Wickart shows St. John Sarkander with the attribute of the key as a martyr of the confessional mystery. This type of depiction became an important model for other Baroque painters in Moravia.

The All Holy Martyrs’ Chapel was founded in the 1920s by the rebuilding of the Olomouc prison, which was the site of the martyrdom of John Sarkander. On the occasion of his beatification, the interior of the chapel was rebuilt and John Sarkander became the new patron saint of the chapel in the middle of the 19th century.
