Hall of Jupiter

The stucco ceiling decoration of the Hall of Jupiter is connected to the previous two rooms. Jupiter, the supreme god of Roman mythology, the God of Heaven and the Universe, here embodies the allegory of the Air. Jupiter's sacred bird was an eagle that wore his lightning. Both of these attributes can be seen here. Because Jupiter was the protector of Rome, there are also included the founders of the "eternal city", Romulus and Remus.
