Introduction

Welcome to the Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum. You are on the premises of Olomouc Castle, which was, after Prague Castle, the second most important power centre in the lands of the Czech monarchy. From the early Middle Ages it was the seat of the Moravian branch of the Přemyslid princes and bishops. An event occurred here that changed the path of Czech history - on August 4, 1306, Wenceslaus III, the last Czech king of the Přemyslid family, was murdered in the secular part of the castle.

Join us on a journey through ten centuries of Moravian history and culture.
