Welcome to the Museum of Modern Art in Olomouc
In the thirteenth century it was the site of a hospice for lepers, which in the late 14th century was converted into the oldest hospital in Olomouc. In the middle of the 19th century, all the buildings were demolished and the late-classicist buildings of the district court were built in its place. During the First World War, the property was acquired by the Donath family, who, after extensive reconstruction, converted it into a distillery and created some residential areas. In the building, which is a unique synthesis of post-Art Nouveau neoclassicism, a bar and cinema were opened. Since the 1990s, the Olomouc Art Museum has been located here.
On the ground floor of the building is the Music Theatre, on the first floor there are halls for temporary exhibitions of modern art, and on the second floor and in the attic there is the permanent exhibition, A Century of Relativity, where you can see the best of the rich collection of 20th century works from Olomouc Art Museum. As a bonus, you can go to the glass tower above the museum roof and enjoy the view of the city of Olomouc.
